The Remote control can be programmed by pressing in a four-digit code. On the remote control, press the [TV] button. It will blink once. Then press and.
If you have cable or satellite TV service you might want to program a new remote to your Vizio TV. Programming a remote is just the simple process of using a new remote to control the television.
Most cable TV and satellite TV companies provide a set top box for each TV that uses the service. These cable and satellite boxes include a remote control to choose what channel you want to watch.
When these set-top boxes are connected to a Vizio TV they will be able to control the channels but they cannot control the volume or the power of the TV at first You could use both the set-top box remote and your Vizio remote together but it is much more convenient to use only one remote.
The remotes that are provided with cable and satellite boxes are usually universal remotes. That means they can be programmed to work with new devices such as your Vizio television.
Remote Codes
In order to program a new remote to your TV you will use a code that is compatible with both your remote and the Vizio TV. I will include the remote codes here and then provide instructions for programming the remotes further down.
There isn’t one code that will always work with a certain remote and a Vizio TV. Sometimes you might have to try several remote codes until you get one that works. Hopefully you don’t have to try every single one of these codes to get the set-top box remote programmed to your Vizio TV.
A universal remote will often use codes of a certain length. So if you know your remote only uses four digit codes or five digit codes then you only have to use codes of that length.

If you have any questions or comments about remotes please leave them in the comments section below. Remember to like this page on Facebook and share on Twitter. Thanks for reading!
It’s odd that with all the advancements made for televisions, we still have to resort to using primitive programming codes to get the remote that comes with the set-top box work with your precious LCD TV or use it to control any audio device. Besides, with hundreds of manufacturers and thousands of possible codes, the setup is downright tedious.
So, let’s use a better way to install the Xfinity remote for televisions, dvd players, audio devices such as a Sony home theater or a Vizio or Sanyo soundbar.
Remember that you'd need the setup codes provided by the manufacturer before you start setting the system up.
Other Stories: This Incredible Panasonic TV Is Virtually InvisibleThe latest Comcast Xfinity remotes pack the ability to work with your television without the need for you to google a remote code. They can just automatically search for the correct code behind the scenes and present it to you.
In some cases, they automatically connect with no input on your part either.
Cool Tip: Verify if your Comcast cable box is running the older version of Xfinity service or the new X1 platform. The easiest way to tell if you don’t know is by consulting the guide. If your guide is blue, you’re on the old version. If it’s black, you’re on X1.For Older Comcast Cable Subscribers
If you’re on the older version of Comcast, use your set-top box remote control to complete the following steps. But first, hit the power button of your television separately to turn it on.
Next, press and hold the Setup button at the top of the remote until the LED indicator light flashes twice. Press 9, 9, 1 and the light should flash two more times. If it does, you’re in the clear to proceed.
Start pressing the Channel Up button on your remote repeatedly — once per every one or two seconds — until your television shuts off. Be patient because this is the part where the remote is searching for the correct code.

To test for a successful match, try turning your TV back on with your Comcast remote and also try adjusting the volume. Both of these should work.

Note: Before trying the steps below, you can also try the above steps with your X1 remote. I’ve had mixed results with this. The only difference is on newer remotes, the Setup button is located at the bottom. The X1 platform seems to encourage the use of a programming code a bit more. Fortunately, the software has a built-in feature for automatically identifying the appropriate code.
Press the Xfinity/Menu button on your newer remote (XR2, XR5, XR11 voice models) and select the Settings icon on the screen. Scroll all the way down to Help.

Begin typing the brand name of your television with the on-screen alphabet. Scroll to select the name when it appears. Then, follow the steps on screen to enter the 5-digit code or the setup code that is most likely to work with your remote.
When that’s complete, you can select All Set to indicate whether the code worked. If it didn’t, Xfinity will recommend other codes to try. Use trial and error until the remote works to power on/off your TV and control volume.
Cool Tip: At any point if you want to access the Self-Help Screen, press the Menu button on your remote control, use the arrow keys on the remote to highlight iTV on the Main Menu screen and press the OK button. Highlight the Self Help option and press the OK button. Conclusion
